The holiday season is here - a time of joy, celebration, family...and let’s be honest, a whole lot of stress. Between busy calendars, shopping lists, travel, expectations, and year-end responsibilities, it’s easy to feel stretched thin.
This month at Woodbury Spine, we’re focusing on stress - what it really is, how it affects your body, and simple ways to stay grounded through the season.
Because we want you to not just get through December...
We want you to feel well, peaceful, and supported through it.

Understanding Stress: Physical, Chemical, and Emotional Stress isn’t just a feeling - it’s a full body experience. And your body doesn’t separate the types... it feels them all at once.
Physical Stress: This shows up in your muscles, joints, and posture. Holiday travel, extra sitting, carrying shopping bags, cold weather tension, long drives, and even poor sleep can overload your spine and nervous system. Support it by: regular chiropractic adjustments, massage therapy, movement and mobility (foundational!), standing desks or alternating sitting/standing, stretch breaks (your body will thank you!)
Chemical Stress: Your body feels what you consume — and the holidays bring plenty of extra inputs. Sugar, caffeine, alcohol, processed foods, dehydration, fragrances, and environmental toxins all increase inflammation and tax your system. Support it by: hydrating throughout the day, choosing whole foods when possible, being mindful of sugar & alcohol, trying “dirty dozen/clean fifteen” swaps, adding supportive supplements, and building simple, sustainable habits - not perfection.
Emotional Stress: This is the mental load no one sees: expectations, schedules, family pressure, social events, comparison, grief, or just burnout. Your brain feels it… and your nervous system responds. Support it by: Box breathing or slow breaths, setting boundaries, saying “no” without guilt, mindfulness vs. mindFULLness, taking a 5-minute break, asking for help when you need it, releasing what you can’t control.
Each week this month, we’re highlighting simple, practical ways to reduce stress in all its forms and pairing those themes with special holiday offers to support you right where you are. Week 1 is all about Relax & Recharge. Week 2 shifts into Move with Momentum. Week 3 gets you ready for a Strong Start. Each weekly special is designed to make taking care of yourself easier. Be sure to check your emails each week to see what’s launching - these offers are limited and only available during their week, so don’t miss them! So...What do you do when stress shows up? Now that we’ve broken down the three major types of stress — physical, chemical, and emotional — let’s talk about the part everyone really needs: What can you do about it?
How do you support your nervous system when the pressure increases, especially during the busiest season of the year? Here’s how we help our patients (and how you can help yourself) navigate stress with more resilience, clarity, and energy:
Firstly, support your spine & nervous system. Your spine is the highway your brain uses to communicate with every cell. When stress rises, your nervous system gets overloaded - muscles tighten, posture collapses, and your body slips into “survival mode.” Chiropractic adjustments restore motion, balance the nervous system, and help your body shift out of fight-or-flight. Patients often tell us they walk our feeling calmer, clearer, and more grounded, because their brain can finally communicate without interference.
Secondly, move your body every day. Movement is one of the fastest ways to lower cortisol and reduce tension. Somethings that work: 10-minute walk after meals, stretch breaks throughout the workday, mobility work to open up tight areas, a few deep squats or lunges. Motion = circulation = better stress recovery.
Thirdly, nourish your body with what it needs. Your body handles stress better when it has the right fuel. A few simple upgrades go a long way; protein at every meal to keep your blood sugar steady, hydration, and supplements to support your adrenal glands and help you stay balanced. Nutridyn Stress Essentials line was created to support exactly that - your chemistry under pressure.
Lastly, create space to pause and stay ahead of stress. One of the simplest ways to reset your nervous system is to create breathing room - literally. When stress rises, your breath becomes shallow and your body shifts into overdrive. Slowing your breath down for just one minute helps your shoulders drop, your heart rate settle, and your mind reset. From there, practice a brief pause before reacting. Especially during the holidays, emotions run high; taking three seconds before responding allows your brain to choose clarity instead of reactivity.
In summary, the best way to manage stress is to stay ahead of it. Don’t wait for burnout. Support your body now by staying consistent with your chiropractic adjustments, keeping mobility and movement a part of your routine, fueling and supplementing well, and using tools that stabilize your stress response. We’re here to help you navigate the season with more energy and resilience and with our Christmas sales dropping every Monday - it’s the perfect time to invest in your health without adding any extra stress! A look back on 2025... As we look back on this year, we can’t help but feel overwhelmed with gratitude.
Fifteen years ago, Woodbury Spine was just starting out. We wanted this to be a place where people could feel seen, cared for, and supported in every season of life. This year, we celebrated 15 years of serving this community, and that milestone was only possible because of YOU.
You’ve trusted us with your health...and your family’s health.
You’ve brought in your babies, your parents, your spouses, your neighbors...
We’ve watched little ones grow up , welcomed brand-new babies into the world, and cheered on so many of you as you hit milestones you once thought were out of reach.
We’ve celebrated victories with you - pain-free days, stronger bodies, new PRs, healthier habits and breakthroughs in energy, sleep, and mindset.
We’ve also walked with you through harder seasons - setbacks, stress, uncertainty, and “I’m just trying my best today” days. And every single one of those moments reminds us why we do what we do.
Because of your trust and your continued belief in what we offer, we are growing, expanding, and stepping boldly into new things this coming year. There is so much in the works for 2026, and we can’t wait to share more with you soon!
Continue to follow along on Facebook and Instagram so you don’t miss the updates.
From our entire Woodbury Spine Family, THNAK YOU!
